Bad breath can also be an indicator of a medical condition such as stomach, lung or bloodstream problems and diabetes. Ok, so you know you have a bad breath problem, what can you do about it? Taking a little extra time over basic oral hygiene each day is always the best starting point. When brushing the teeth, don't forget to brush the tongue. In fact, it's a good idea to get a tongue scraper because this device will help to remove food debris and dead cells from the indentations in the tongue that a normal toothbrush will miss. You should make sure that you book regular check-ups with your dentist so that any necessary treatment can be arranged as quickly as possible so that oral health problems don't get chance to develop into something major. Chew sugarfree gum or sugarless lozenges to stimulate saliva production. Another good habit to get into is the twice a day usage of mouthwash - morning and evening. The most sensible ones to pick are those that do not contain alcohol - far too many of them do. Stop smoking and avoid alcohol and caffeine. Start eating leafy green vegetables - parsley's a good one. These types of vegetables contain chlorophyll which is one of nature's breath fresheners. All of the above tips, if practised, will help you to alleviate your bad breath symptoms.
