By: Wilson Stout Jr.

Skin care products today are altogether different from what your parents used. Herbal products were once very common, but now store purchase products dominate the market. Regular herbal skin care products have been commercialized. This shift from herbal skin care to synthetic, can likely be ascribed to two matters - our indolence and the commercialization of skin care.

Acne ordinarily begins in the early teen years, when the oil secretors in the body start producing more sebum (oil). The diminutive shaft in the skin by which a hair arises, and sebum is passed from the sebaceous follicle to the surface of the skin. Some people also have too many "sticky" skin cells. In people who experience acne, these cells commingle with the oil and stop up up the hair follicles in the skin.

Commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home. However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural and herbal skin care routines. But still, none want to make them at home and hence the commercial market of herbal skin care products is on the rise.

In ancient times skin care was alway in the for of herbal formulations. As a matter of reality there were no synthetic products. Most of the population understood the use of herbs for medicinal purposes. Today we have chemical based and synthetic skin care products. We can now ask, how does herbal skin care work?

A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get invoked when they are combined with other herbs like tea.

One of the best examples of a skin care product is Aloe vera. It has been used externally to treat various skin conditions such as cuts, burns and eczema. It is alleged that sap from Aloe vera eases pain and reduces inflammation. Aloe vera gel is also alleged to be useful for dry skin conditions, especially eczema around the eyes and sensitive facial skin.

Antiseptics are another important part of Herbal skin care. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are good examples of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also form good toners. Tea plays an important part in herbal skin care. Tea extracts are used for treatment of skin that has been damaged by UV radiation.

Oils fain from herbal educes present additional means of herbal skin care resources. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, Borago officinalis oil and primrose oil are some popular oils utilized in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. extracts from yields like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower and bath gels. Homeopathic discourses and aromatherapies likewise come under the umbrella of herbal skin care curatives.

Herbal skin care products can be easily created at home, therefore making them even more magnetic. To the highest degree herbal skin care products don't deliver any side effects (the most significant reason for favoring them over man-made products) Herbal skin care is good not only for the routine nutrifying of skin but also for treatment of skin conditions like eczema and psorasis.

So, herbal skin care is the way to go. However, this does not mean that you totally discard the synthetic products. Some people go to the extent of debating with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.
