Finding Your Russian Wife Abroad. Blissful with Challenges

Looking for your love accross borders can be one of the most life rewarding journey you might undertake in your life. Some men start on this journey simply out of curiosity and others because they seek traditional values in their better-half. Many men find themselves being drawn to the notion of marrying a woman from the Ukraine or Russia, perhaps even South Africa because they feel these woman will make a loving wife. For many this is so very true, but taking on the world of International Dating takes on a whole new level of commitment and responsibility.

One of the things I loved so much when I met my wife in the Ukraine was the level of her commitment. Once we have confirmed our love for each other I always knew (and still know) that she is "with me" in this relationship. But for some this level of commitment might feel overwhelming at first. Committing your heart to someone who lives thousands of miles away can be a difficult thing, not only emotionally, but also financially. Things will move fast. The normal processing time for a Fiancé Visa is about 6-9 months. In reality, it can take 1-year.

Being an immigrant myself I could relate to how difficult it is for her to move to a new county. We always fear that we are moving to a place that is worse than the one we come from, but now we have to consider things like the new culture and language she would have to adapt to. I was fortunate to have learned some Russian and until today she still says it made the transition for her much easier.

Another challenge is and always will be the stigma of "Mail order bride". To the ignorance of many and the impression of the press, couples are often overwhelmed by friends and family about the idea of marrying a foreign national. My advice is always to surround yourself with likeminded people for this negates the negativity that others will indulge in at the expense of your heartwarming happiness.

Marrying a Ukrainian or Russian woman, for may bring a life filled with love, romance, commitment and beautiful family life. But the on this journey is a complex one. One that will call forth all your strengths in ways you never knew you had the ability for.
