With an estimated 60% of men and 10 to 20% of women experiencing hair loss, it is no surprise that hair restoration methods are quickly gaining attention throughout the United States. On occasion it helps to regrow hair but this is not guaranteed nor is it the mechanism of action of this product. Propecia works on the hormonal level. In the body testosterone is a hormonal which is converted to another hormone called DHT. Male pattern baldness occurs when the DHT reduces the follicular activity of the hair. Propecia interferes with this action. Surgical intervention, such as a hair transplant, occurs when a transplant physician and removes small pieces of the scalp that are still growing hair, typically located at the back and sides of the head. The surgeon then literally transplants the hair relocating them to areas which are bald or thinning. Another type of hair restoration option is known as a tissue expansion. With this method a small device known as a tissue expander is placed underneath a section on the scalp that is still growing here. This hair growing area must be located adjacent to the balding area. The tissue expander causes the skin to produce new hair growing skin cells. Once the new skin cells appear the surgeon then neatly draws the expanded scan over the bald spot. Other surgical options for hair restoration include scalp reduction and flap surgery. If you are experiencing in baldness or thinning hair it is important that you look into all the options available on today's market before you make a decision that will be right for you. With all the options available today for hair restoration it is highly likely that you will find an option that will work for you.
