How a pet mover will make your pet's move overseas easier

By: Len McGrane

One of the biggest things you will do for your pet is shifting him overseas. It takes a lot of hard work, and while it's possible to do it without assistance, pet movers will make this a lot easier for you.

You will be surprised, but your first step will not be at the office you imagined. Rather than talk to an airline, you should first talk to the people in the embassy of the place you are moving to.

Pets are like us humans -- they can't move freely without papers and even then only if they fit in with any quarantine and import requirements at national borders. Your professional pet movers will know these things, but you'll have to ask the embassy staff.

At this point you can talk to the airline office. You will need to find out how to prepare the crate your pet will travel in, and what travel dates are available for you both.

This is the time to phone a vet. He will talk with you about any medical checks, injections and documents officials will require. Pet movers would also be able to advise you.

The day before you leave feed your pet a smaller helping than it is used to. They travel better on a lightly filled stomach. And take your pet for a walk shortly before flying.

The container you select for your pet's move has to provide standing room and enough space for turning around. If your pet will take medicine during the move include them and written directions for airline staff.

There are some corners you might be able to cut, for the move, but one thing you will have to get right is the paperwork. Try to get it right.
