Jessalyn Gilsig, most known for her performance as a series regular on David E. Kelley's Boston Public, has been around some of the most popular television series, filling out some memorable and crucial guest roles. Recently, the Canadian actress played some pivotal roles on NYPD Blue, Heroes, Nip/Tuck and Prison Break. She will also be the face of another significant character in the movie-turned-television series, Friday Night Lights, which returns for its second season on October 5. Becoming the face of Lauren David on Boston Public, Gilsig has been slated to appear in six episodes of the upcoming second installment of the football drama, Friday Night Lights. Gilsig will be playing Tami Taylor’s (Connie Briton) sister, Shelly in a multi-episode arc. Shelly will be providing welcome assistance to Tami, who had just gave birth to her baby with husband Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), who was forced to leave home to coach a college team in Austin. Before her Friday Night Lights stint, Gilsig also appeared on the highly-watched sci-fi hit series Heroes, where she played Claire Bennet's (Hayden Panettiere) biological mother, who was blessed with the power of igniting fire with her bare hands. She also appeared on the medical drama Nip/Tuck as the lover of heartthrob Julian McMahon. Prior to that, Gilsig appeared on the popular jailbreak series, Prison Break, as LJ Burrow's mother, who was murdered within the first few episodes of season 1. In Friday Night Lights production news, Jason Katims, who works as writer and executive producer for the show, recently agreed to work as a consultant for the new series, Bionic Woman. Katim's will join the team of Battlestar Galactica’s David Eick and Kidnapped’s Jason Smilovic to write scripts and storylines for the show. Before his work on Friday Night Lights, Katims previously worked for Roswell and Boston Public, where he and Jessalyn Gilsig became colleagues.
