The root causes of dermatitis are not well understood and are still the focus of active research. It is shown in the current research that it comes about due to interactions between the environment, our immune system, and genetics. The immune systems of sufferers of this condition are quite sensitive and they tend to be prone to react to various allergens and irritants. Many who suffer from dermatitis have a number of relatives with allergic conditions. A genetic predisposition may become worse by variables such as infections, food allergies, temperature, irritating chemicals, stress and humidity. In response to extreme humidity and temperature, dermatitis will often flare-up. Excessive sweating and high levels of stress are other causes of dermatitis flare-ups. Irritations are another cause of dermatitis. It seems to have the capacity to change the epidermal cell structure by allowing immunoglobulin E activity to rise. Once an individual is no longer exposed to an allergen or even after it has been systematically controlled, the ongoing skin irritation will subsequently continue. Causes of Dermatitis Unknown Since the root causes of dermatitis are still elusive, several theories attempt to explain its pathogenesis. Causes of dermatitis most likely represent more than one condition. Underlying metabolic and biochemical factors indicate that induced skin disorder is genetically associated with elevated serum immunoglobulin E levels and is one of their theories regarding the origins of dermatitis while malformed T-cell function is another theory. Causes of dermatitis may include a number of genetic factors, health conditions, irritants and allergies, physical and mental stresses. Working under wet conditions is one of the primary causes of dermatitis. Contact dermatitis results from direct contact with one of many possible irritants. A variety of substances can cause dermatitis to develop in different people and allergic reactions are genetically determined. Burns and sunburns can also increase the risk of developing dermatitis. The process and causes of dermatitis are much clearer these days, although little is known about what makes people susceptible to allergic dermatitis. The 3 Primary Varieties of Dermatitis The 3 primary varieties of dermatitis are contact irritant, contact allergy, and atopic. These all have different triggers, although many are similar. Atopic dermatitis is thought to be a genetic disorder associated with environmental factors. But little is known what makes people susceptible to allergic dermatitis. On the occasion that a highly reactive chemical substance makes direct contact with the skin, allergic contact dermatitis occurs. Nummular dermatitis usually occurs in cold weather and is common to people with dry skin. The root causes behind these are still unknown.
