So what is colloidal silver anyway?

The concept has actually been around for a hundred of years now. Colloidal silver has been used by several medical institutions for certain health purposes prior to 1939. Physicians take it as an effective form of antibiotic which was then considered as high-tech. Following that use, more and more colloidal silver products were produced and marketed, but they were made available at a high price. Aside from that, the early people also used colloidal silver to lengthen the period of freshness of their milk when placed at room temperature, and many were happy with the result.

But, as the medical field or the society in general moved in, several affordable and fast working drugs came out in the market, then replacing colloidal silver in favor. Many turned to the new alternatives, and the colloidal researches which were then started by several medical experts were set aside. This is what leads to the sudden death of the colloidal silver market.

Although the production was stopped due to the rise of a much effective alternatives, many have still tried to bring the production back to life. The researches were then resumed and now they’ve learned that colloidal silver is by nature present in the purified water we drink. Yes, it is composed of minuscule silver particles that are suspended in the water and other liquid, and just like the rest of the things on earth, colloidal silver has its own properties.

Speaking of properties, it is best to understand that what is colloidal silver in terms of properties is somehow similar to what is colloidal silver as a form of antibiotic. Well, this similarity is based on the researchs which reveal that colloidal silver has antimicrobial properties. As mentioned before, it was used during the early days an effective treatment for wounds and all types of burns. It was used for such treatments simply for the reason that it has the ability to prevent infection.

Today, when someone asks you “What is colloidal silver?” your solution to the question will not only be limited to it being an antibiotic. You may also say that colloidal silver is a food supplement often used by people to treat certain bodily imperfections. They are ingested internally, but in moderate quantities as an over dosage of this supplement can cause certain risks too, like the so-called “argyria”. But, argyria is the only condition linked to the use of colloidal silver and many of its victims find certain changes on their skin. A blue-gray skin color is usually documented as a symptom of the colloidal disease.
