Window tinting training

By: Rick Appleson

This article discusses the different window tinting training methods.

The window tinting business has a lot of revenue involved in it and plenty of competition with more than 10,000 installers in the US only. Generally, window tinting is divided into three different types - commercial, residential and automotive. For the most part, start-ups focus on the residential and commercial sector, because the auto window tinting is already full of competitors.

Although most people probably think that tinting windows is a fairly easy job, this is totally not the case and professionals actually like to consider themselves as artists. The whole process is not simple and you need a lot of window tinting training to reach the levels of the pros. Your skills, techniques and tools determine whether you're successful or not.

Window tinting has turned into one of the most profitable segments of the auto aftermarket industry. To good thing here is that you don't need a lot of money to get started, just tint film and several tools that can be found in almost every garage. The prices are around $150 for a 4-door car, while the actual materials cost about $50 in this case.

If you are a do-it-yourself type of guy, then you can save a lot of money, but it you need a certain amount of 'know-how'. The other key ingredient is experience in this area. Without knowledge or experience you don't stand a real chance, so the question is - how can you get high quality window tint training?

One option is to learn at a window tint shop. However, there is a major problem here, because you will be asked to sign a non-compete contract. The idea here is that those companies don't want to just give away their 'know-how' and techniques for nothing. According to this non-compete agreement, you don't have the right to open your own shop in the next 2-5 years.

An alternative is to visit window tinting seminars, but they don't come cheap either as the price is between $2,000 and $5,000 for 1-2 weeks. Yes, they are effective, but the price is quite high. Lately, the Internet has sort of changed all this introducing a new way of window tinting training.

Online window tint training is very feasible option, because it's not that expensive and you can study at your own pace. Once you sign up with a given website, you will receive access to tens of downloadable pdf documents, manuals and video materials. Such programs are often divided depending on your skill level - starter, professional and advanced.

Truth is that there is a lot of money to be made in the window tinting business. And the best part of it all, is that you can learn it at home and then start a business of your own. Invest some money and make your life way better.
